Were you able to spot the stunning beauty with the spots, in the first picture? Do you recognise this elusive cat?
Well, if you still haven’t, that’s a female leopard. We spotted her in the early morning hours of our heart thumping safari at Kanha National Park’s, Sarahi zone. She had made quite a killing deal, by ambushing a mother langur (Rhesus Macau) and its baby. We saw her slink away into the bamboo thicket, to feast upon the baby langur, as the mother lay lifeless under a Saal tree.
Two lives snuffed away, too soon. Such are the laws of the jungle. And the inhabitants abide by them to the T.

These are some awesome shots, Natasha. Life is such, hunted and preyed upon often. Only the ones who are smart enough to avoid detection will survive. Honestly, I am not saddened by this truth. It’s life. We will develop the required traits if we want to live well, right? <3 But yes, reading about the lost lives cause a prickle in my heart. <3
Wow! Those shots and the words. I often ponder the same – – life in the jungle and how easily it is snuffed out.

That was simply stunning! And you actually saw it? Sad but true in the jungle as well as the world, it is a dog eat dog story and the stronger dog always wins. Now I’m really keen on visiting Kanha
The leopard’s killing deal makes me feel sad but yeah this is the food chain and the law of the jungle. If I haven’t known about the langurs, I would have appreciated the quality of the photos and the camera with which they were shot. It must be a task requiring much focus and patience to spot the spotted predator among the foliage.

I Know it’s the law of the jungle, but I still mourn for the prey animals. At the same time, I’m a meat eater. I didn’t catch the leopard in the first picture the first time I looked at it. It wasn’t until the second time, and then she showed quite clearly. What camouflage, though!
Awesome pictures and so much better to see them in the wild rather than the zoo. Btw, I live half an hour from Rudyard Kipling’s home, Batemans, the 17th Century house where he wrote The Jungle Book. Worth a Google!
…just remembered, he wrote it before he moved to Bateman’s!

My heart breaks whenever I witness a hunt in the jungle on NatGeo. But as you said, such are the laws of the jungle, and there is nothing we can do, but watch in awe and learn something from the animals. We humans can’t even follow the road rules!
