MysTree: #WriteBravely #WriteTribeProBlogger #FridayFictioneers

The ancient tree towers among the tropical vegetation of the Sands resort. It canopies the wooden benches, giving the guests a respite from the sunny days.

A pair of woodpeckers nest here every spring. But each time the fledglings die, leaving a trail of blood.

Also, what remains a mystery are the myriad stones that line the bottom of the tree. Legend says they were brought from the rocky beaches, by couples; wanting to seal their love eternally. While some say, their purpose was to invoke the deities that warded off the evil spirits. While some believe, they mysteriously appeared one Friday the Thirteenth night.

    1. Yeah, actually they are the ones that struck me first when I saw the picture. So I’m glad I did, as most people writing the prompt focussed on the other things around the tree. πŸ™‚ Thank you Ryan for reading and commenting.

  1. What a mysterious story, Natasha. Those stones sound intriguing, and it’s interesting I focussed on them too in my story. My second story. Along with the four elements, wood and stone have always intrigued mankind, haven’t they?
