Faith Can Move Mountains: #MondayMusings

What could possibly have prompted someone to  write this powerful quote: “Faith Can Move Mountains” ?

The origin of this supremely motivating quote is from the holy Bible. It was recorded in the 1582 Rheims Bible, in Matthew XXI 21, as:

“If you shall have faith, and stagger not, … and if you shall say to this mountain, throw thy self into the sea, it shall be done.”

“Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20-21.

The power of our belief can be so immense and monumental, that it can create a shift in the most unimaginable spheres of our lives.

What it Means to Believe?

While researching about this phenomenal quote, I stumbled upon these words by Pastor Rick where he writes:

“Faith opens the door to miracles. If you study the Bible and history, you find that every time God moves on Earth and does a miracle, it’s because somebody believed.”

He goes on to say,

“God has set up the universe in a hierarchy of laws, and the law of faith is actually a higher law than the laws of nature. That’s where miracles come in. Because when faith is used, the law of faith goes into practice, and the law of faith can actually do more than the laws of physics.”

He further says,

“Does God still perform miracles today? Of course he does. Every time you stretch your belief, God does miracles — every single time. My question for you is this: What’s the mountain in your life that needs to be moved? What’s the thing you’ve already decided will never change? That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. How do you know it won’t change? Maybe God wants your faith to supersede the law of nature. He has in the past, he is doing it today all around the world. God is in the mountain-moving business. Do not doubt or underestimate what he wants to do in your life.”

Pastor Rick’s posts last lines completely resonates with every cell, every fibre of my being:

You might say, “I don’t see many miracles in my life.” I wonder why! Are you seeing with eyes of fear, or are you seeing with eyes of faith?

Faith opens the door to miracles.

Weekend Vibes – Beliefs and the Week Ahead

I ended my weekend listening to my DH’s favourite playlist. I never thought I would convert to a Pink Floyd fan, till 12 years back. And a Led Zeppelin one too. As we sat sprawled on the sofa sipping a glass of gin and tonic. Led Zeppelin’s, “Stairway to Heaven” played in the background, a song that I had always heard on the go; caught my attention with these lines:

“And a new day will dawn, for those who stand on. And the forest will echo with laughter.”

Sharing the video for your listening pleasure.

Let’s start our week with belief in the goodness, overflowing in our hearts. Belief that will not just move mountains, but shake up our old patterns, thought processes and fears, transforming our lives beyond imagination.

These spring blossoms give me faith too. What all gives you faith?

“Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and don’t doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.” (Mark 11:22-24 CEV)

  1. I loved your post, Natasha! I think I was wallowing in self doubts when this came along and reinstated in me the need to believe that things happen for a reason but faith and hope gives us a reason to look beyond the obvious and feel the surge of positivity come through! So much goes on inside the head even on days when I’ve been working round the clock and especially on a week when things look crazy! Thanks for the much-needed nudge to stay hopeful and positive.

  2. I am not a religious person at all but I have faith in myself, my family and the power of good. Also even I enjoy rock and Led Zeppelin all thanks to the husband and now the children.

  3. While I am not religious, I feel like this quote can be interpreted in many ways. Faith in one’s own abilities can help move mountains, faith in people around can help move mountains and faith that the universe will provide given you are working hard, can also help.

  4. Having faith at times can be the toughest but the ones who walk ahead with their unwavering faith do bring in miracles and yes, move mountains.

  5. I absolutely believe in faith and the hope and miracles it brings in our lives.
Faith the size of a mustard seed is sufficient to move mountains of impossibility, truly!

  6. Faith, its existance is mandatory to be bale to lead a more contend life… Faith in oneself as well is in God.. and not to forget in humanity and all things around us 🙂

    1. Truly so Ramya. Faith that overarches to all our aspects of life.
Slowly but surely people seem to lose faith in humanity and things around us, and that is so very essential to renew once again. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. <3

    1. Oh yes, Catie. Love breaks all boundaries and barriers and it is with love that we can forge ahead in faith. Thank you for your beautiful words. And for stopping by. <3

  7. One must remember not to hope to practice faith.

‘I hope the mountains move’ reflects doubt.

‘I know the mountain will move’ reflects Faith.

    1. Oh yes, you said it. Hits the nail. Hope is just the beginning, undying faith is the key to all mountains being conquered. Thank you Krishnana so much, for reading nd leaving your imprints. 🙂

    1. Hola Maria!
Love your blog name. So unique, so very out of the box and exclusive. Thank you so very much for your kind words. And for taking time out to stop by.
I’m a Buddhist by practise, but more spiritual and less religious. I feel all the religious texts have the same guidances to share, in different languages and novel styles of writing.
It enchants me no end when I meet someone like you, who does not believe in God, yet has so much love, faith and positivity towards life. More power to you! xoxo
