{B} is for Burden or Unburden?: AtoZChallenge2018

{B} is for Burden or Unburden?

It’s unusual for a weekday mornings to start on a lazy, relaxed, weekend kind of pace. I wake up late: 7:10 A.M. Today is not the usual rush hour morning. No burdens, no chores. I sip my tea, while watching inspirational videos. I’m going to take it easy today, as I was up late last night writing. It’s spring break. The nine year-old went off to her grandparents place with the DH, in the wee hours of the morning. They live nearby. The nineteen year old has to get to work only at eleven, so I have ample time to unwind for a change, and take it easy.

But sometimes when you think life is all hunky dory, someone just drops a bombshell on you, and you get all emotional and weepy.  To make things worse, I am badly pmsing too, so I might be over-reacting. I almost start to brawl, but hold back. The nineteen year old wraps me in a warm hug and says, “Mamma, you don’t have to carry the entire world’s burden on your shoulders all the time.”

That hits the nail. Yes, we possibly cannot carry the world’s burdens on our shoulders, and that’s the truth. We can just be accountable for our feelings. We can chose to be happy or sad. We can choose to not let others words affect us, and continue to carry on. We can chose not to weigh down our world and our minds with the “should haves” and “must-nots.”

We can choose to let go, move on, be at peace and continue to smile. It’s all up to us.

My theme for this year’s Blogging from A-Z Challenge is April Anecdotes that are twenty-six compelling tales of some real people, and some not so real people. These tales will be surreal, peppered with a dose of non-fiction, but some might just be a figment of my over active imagination. You can read my theme here.

    1. Thank you Anurag. Life isn’t easy all the time but it’s the choices we make that simplifies it further. Thank you for all your comments. Truly appreciate it.

  1. Hi Natasha! I hope you are feeling much better today. Daughters are a blessing, I tell you. Reminds me of one incident when my daughter asked me ´Why do I work so much?´. Such a simple yet profound question. Ive never said this before but I admire how you put things all together – writing consistently, managing to look so fit and fine at 40, taking care of the family, cooking such delectable dishes as per your Instagram posts, socialising..that´s a lot on anyone´s plate and you make it look so effortless. Am happy you´re back to writing after your mum´s demise early this year. This was an honest post..I´m sure many women can relate to this one. Sharing my post for B: https://thetinaedit.com/2018/04/02/bhumi-atozchallenge-2018/. Please do read when you´re free and have time. 🙂

    1. Oh dear Tina, thank you for your kind, kind words. You really made my day. :)))

Daughters sure are the biggest blessings of our lives. What would I do without mine I sometimes wonder. Your little one is such a precious cookie. Hugs to her.

    1. Yeah we are all human after all and we tend to forget. But I guess being more mindful could always help us power through these moments and hold on to the positive thoughts. Thank you Neha for visiting. 🙂

  2. I have been trying to live by the mantra ‘ Dont be a reaction to anyone else’ and it has been so difficult. But with that in mind, I recover faster and move on.

    1. Yeah, reacting is toxic, responding is what we need to focus on. Doesn’t come easy most of the time, but I guess with patience, practise and mindfulness it may eventually. Thank you Namy.

    1. Yes, steadying our thoughts and being mindful of the negative ones that come floating any moment of the day is the key. Thank you so much for reading and commenting, Rohan.

  3. PMSing worsens things, Natasha, I know! But, believe me, these are just the words I have been repeating to myself since this morning – Do not burden yourself with anything that is not in your control. Actually, nothing is really in your control, so as well just let it all go, focus on what you are doing at the moment and live life happily! Easier said than done, right? But,these are really the words that have been going on a loop in my mind since this morning. Wonder how much of it I will remember tomorrow! 🙂

    1. Exactly, wonder how much of it I will remember in the next few days. But I’ll keep trying albeit.
Sometimes letting go and just being is perfect for our peace of mind. The more we hold on, the more we complicate our lives. Watch out for C for Control tomorrow…maybe it will ease the burden further. :)))

    1. Thanks dear Moon. Will wait for your feedback. I’ve taken the plunge not knowing how this will go. My second time this year. But I know, I needed to get back to the rhythm of writing….so dived in.
I was waiting to read your posts too, but noticed you aren’t participating. A bit disappointed, as I would have loved to read your magical tales.

  4. Wow that’s an excellent post, loved your expressions, yes the choice is always ours and I love the quote of Martin Luther king Jr. Hate is too much of a burden…

    1. Oh yes, the power lies within. Sometimes I feel our situations are a reflection of our inner stories. It’s upto us what we chose- agony or amicability. Thanks for reading and commenting Aks. <3

    1. Truly so, Ramya. It helps us a great deal to not hold on too grudges and to just be. And like you said, to take things more lightly. Then life becomes less complicated and more simple. Thank you for reading and commenting. <3

  5. Well said Natasha. ‘Child is the father of man’. How at times our children bring us face to face with such life lessons which change the course of our lives.

    1. So true Meha. I make it a point to listen to my girls intently as more often than not they come up with the most beautiful pearls of wisdom. Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
