“The common hill-flowers wither, but they blossom again. The laburnum will be as yellow next June as it is now. In a month there will be purple stars on the clematis, and year after year the green night of its leaves will hold its purple stars. But we never get back our youth.”
– Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
Sunshine in my Neighbourhood
I chance upon this stunning Laburnum (also known as Amaltas, in Hindi) every morning, on my walks. This sunshine in my neighbourhood, and many such others is such a pick-me up. The beautiful blooms carpeting the ground underneath, entice me to just sprawl myself out under its gorgeousness, and regale in this unique wonder, bestowed by Mother Nature.
Different Strokes, for Different Folks: I love the transiting colours and fragrances of the seasons. In autumn it’s the intoxicating Night Jasmine. Winters arrive with the fragrant blooms of Dragon tree or Chatim. Winters transit to spring with the vibrant Flame of Forests or Palash and the wispy Jacarandas. The radiant Gulmohars and the Laburnums, signal the advent of summers with their riot of reds and yellows. Different strokes for different folks, every season.
I love how lane after lane in my neighbourhood and city, are endowed with these picture perfect trees, that shower a fountain of sunshine all around.
Join me this summers, as we celebrate the arrival of these stunning Laburnums, here in India.
A little side note: I had clicked this picture specifically for Parul’s Thursday Tree Love, but could not post. I was snowed with painting and renovation work at home, a new furry member and visiting guests. Therefore, I am taking the liberty of linking this post with Parul’s Thursday Tree Love, linky party as well.
I’ve also been guilty of not commenting on all your fabulous #WordlessWednesday posts, in the last few weeks. Please forgive me and give me a week and I shall do so at the earliest. Esha is taking the week off, as she is moving homes. She will be back soon.
