Rey Speaks, “Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker”

Rey is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise and the main protagonist of the sequel film trilogy. She was created by Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams, and Michael Arndt for The Force Awakens (2015), the first installment of the trilogy, and is portrayed by Daisy Ridley. (Credits: Wikipedia)

Rey is a Jakku scavenger, a survivor toughened by life on a harsh desert planet. When the fugitive droid BB-8 appeals to her for help, Rey finds herself drawn into a galaxy-spanning conflict. Despite dismissing herself as ‘no one,’ she learns that her life is being shaped by the mysterious power of the Force. (Credits: StarWars database)

My Takeaways from Rey:

I’ve never been a “Star Wars person”, but belong to a family of Star Wars buffs. The DH and my older baby girl are not just mere fans, but Star Wars is their religion. I get that, even though I don’t understand most of it.

But the bits I do get, have me blown away, especially this incredible quote I’ve mentioned above by Rey. I was fascinated by the portrayal of Rey’s character, and see parts of myself in her. Won’t divulge more details, and will let you go watch the flim, if you still haven’t.

I partly wish I could have sat through “The Rise of the Skywalker” and not stepped out half way. But then some situations are critical, need us to be present, and they must outweigh our choices. Standing by the older baby girl who was going for a protest, at a time when our nation has been crumbling under the pressure of intolerance and fascism, was a good decision.

Having said that, Rey reminds me of all the protestors who have been withstanding the harsh consequences, braving the chilly winters and yet standing steadfast in their resolve, to fight for their rights and the ones that were given to us.

Rey brings me an inch closer to my “Word of the Year”, which I will be revealing soon.

Are you a Star Wars fan? Have you watched “The Rise of the Skywalker” or the Star Wars series? Did Rey’s character speak to you? How about the other characters? I love Chewy (Chewbacca) too; reminds me of my Laila Bear.

  1. I just can’t still stop looking at Laila bear. OH my god, she looks absolutely adorable. Completely heart-melting. Even though I don’t watch Star Wars much, I do know that some of its quotes are inspiring. This one is thought provoking.

  2. I’m a Star Wars ignoramus, Natasha, how those words speak to me too. Glad that you stood by your daughter. I’m standing up and applauding her and you!
    Laila is a doll.
Love the new look of your blog. The header is very eye-catching!

  3. I have all the DVD’s of Star Wars. No new ones yet. I don’t think they’re on DVD yet & no I have not seen the movie. I’m sure it’s great though. Happy 2020 to you & yours too my good friend! So far so good with us. The weather is crazy as usual, but the weather is crazy some days it’s in the 40’s and others it’s close to O’s brrrrrrrrrrrrr . Love, love, love your puppy & what a cute name, Laila Bear. I have a black/chocolate Labrador named Charlie. He doesn’t ask for attention he demands it. He loves all the lovin’ he can get. Have a wonderful day my good friend!!!

    1. Marie it will probably be streaming on one of the channels like Amazon Prime/Netflux or Hotstar soon.

It’s been very cold here too. Todays its all rainy and gloomy and I chose to perk myself up with a red sweater. :))) And will grab coffee with a dear friend once I’m done working.

Charlie sounds adorable, very much like Mishki Moo (Mishka) my cocker spaniel.

Have a great week ahead! Love.

  4. Rey is a hero to all of us, no doubt. But, Laila steals the show and my heart! I haven’t watched Star Wars or Star Trek yet for that matter. Somehow never felt like. Maybe now I should 🙂

So glad to have you back here, Natz, it feels like the sunshine in the blogosphere is now back <3

Wishing you a blessed 2020. Lots of love!

    1. I have a feeling you might like Star Wars and Star Trek. Go for it sweetheart. And tell me what you thought.

You are adorable and you know that right. <3

Much love and a supremely blessed Twenty Twenty! xoxo

  5. My son was the Star Wars fan although I did enjoy the movies.

    Your pup is adorable.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥

  6. Love that quote. But I love Laila more 🙂
I haven’t watched any of the Star Wars movies yet. But I haven’t even read Harry Potter. Fantasy and space fiction are the things that interest me. But I know I have to watch what’s the buzz about them. Right? 🙂
Btw – happy that Esha and you are back. I do miss Wordless Wednesday more when I know you both are on vacation. 😛

    1. Ha! Ha!

Same pinch Parul. I think the only scientific-fi I liked watching was Star Trek as a kid, though I must say I have liked movies like Avatar, too, and not to forget Superman and Spiderman.

But I get your drift. I find fantasy and sci-fi unreliable too.
I watched Harry Potter thanks to my older poppet.

We miss your delightful posts as much too. 🙂 Love.

  7. Never be afraid of who you are is a wonderful quote! Mom doesn’t like Star Wars at all. She had to go to the first movie because she was a kid and the family went. She didn’t like it at all and has not seen another one since and has no interest. I guess people either love it or hate it.

    1. Ha! Ha! I get it. :)))

I like parts of it though, but then again I’m not a fantasy science-fi big fan, so I let it pass. Thank you for swinging by Madison. <3

  8. “Never Be Afraid of Who You Are”. thats a very powerful thought. People often try to copy others and in that process they end up loosing their own identity. In fact one should be proud of who they are and if they have any flaws then rather than feeling inferiors about it, it is better to improve ourselves.
