It Takes Courage : #WordlessWednesday #WednesdayWisdom

“Small things matter. What may look like a small act of courage is courage nevertheless. The important thing is to be willing to take a step forward.”

Daisaku Ikeda, President Söka Gakkai Buddhism

It takes courage to be out, exploring the woods, on your own.

It takes courage to take start afresh every day.

It takes courage to bloom where you are planted.
(A snail habitat being created by my 12 year-old)

It takes courage to survive in this world. (The grapes fruiting amidst rain and storm. A spider enjoying the beauty. One of the many visitors entranced by these delicious grapes.
There is a red-vented Bulbul who comes foraging too every day, carrying them back to her fledglings. Sights that make us smile.)

Today I’m reminded of this song from my school days. I’m sure some of you might have heard it and and grown up singing it too. Grateful for this song brimming with courage.

It takes courage to answer a call.
It takes courage to give to all.
It takes courage to risk your name.
It takes courage to be true.
It takes courage to dare- what no other will share.
To be standing alone with whom no one will.
To be ready to stake for another man’s sake.
It takes courage to be true.
It takes courage to say what no other will pay.
To give each man his share.
Though there will be less to spare.
To be seeking no more than the neighbour next door.
It takes courage to be true.

Do you know who wrote this song?

What does courage mean to you?

  1. Guess who finally made it!!! YEP, tis I my friend! hahaha What a lovely poem you have posted, and it made so much sense for it is the sign of the times for sure. To wake up in such a lovely way & nutritious breakfast to say the least. Gotta keep my friend healthy, please! When I see that it is you that came to visit or it is you that is next in line for me to visit you have no idea what it does for me. It is like my very soul smiles because a friend is present. When I think of you my own heart smiles. So my friend, it this nutritious breakfast for us? That you would share all this with me as you have means so much. May my arms reach you in friendship to give you a heartwarming hug, and put a smile on your soul is my destiny! May the Lord’s angels protect you from harm and put a smile on your soul. Amen Sending BIG hugs & may the angels protect your from harm & keep that warm smile on your face!

  2. A wonderfully encouraging post! We all have courage and just a little goes a long way 🙂

I’m glad you are a part of ‘My Corner of the World’ this week! Thanks for linking up.

  3. Yes, it does take a lot of courage on a daily basis, especially if you’re off to see the Wizard. Thank you for your kind words about our sweet Zoe, we appreciate it.

  4. Small steps matter – I agree completely! Lovely pictures and thoughts, Natasha. I haven’t read that poem before. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

  5. Natasha the grapes look delicious. I simply love how you make any subject such a delightful read 🙂
The composition of every click is lovely. So who is/are behind it?

    Encouraging lyrics.

For me courage is following one’s soul path every day, every moment — the very first step to reach that path is to recognize, accept and be who you are……. Now that itself requires tremendous courage.

    1. I only clicked the pictures on my phone Monika. I’m still learning photography, but thanks to #WW, I manage to do a better job. A longer way to go though.
And the grapes are from our terrace, yes.

“the very first step to reach that path is to recognize, accept and be who you are……. Now that itself requires tremendous courage.”

I so agree. Be at peace with who you are and then work on evolving and growing. Acceptance is such a key word in today’s times, too.

Your words are always so comforting. Much love. Have a peaceful weekend! <3

  6. Love all the shots, but the first one of grapes and the one with the spider on the grapes are my favorites.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Natasha. ♥

  7. Indeed. Its the seemingly little things and courage which shape us… and especially this is a time when we need to be more mindful and courageous. Thanks for sharing these thoughts, your pictures chosen so thoughfully and the lovely song, Natasha 🙂
    Have a lovely #WW

  8. And it takes a lot of courage to stand up for our beliefs. History is made my courageous people. Love the poem. And the grapes. Are they from your garden?

    1. You couldn’t have said it better.
Yes courage to “just be’ and not get carried away by the noise outside.

Thanks for adding this wonderful thought to my morning, Zina.
      Much, much love. <3

  9. Life is full of small things that are beautiful. That are joy and happiness.
But sometimes, I do not know why we forgot!
The courage, from my point of view is very pale around us. It means knowledge, mental strength,
love of life in all the forms, compassion and many other similar things that feed it. Maybe is not
a normal definition, but… it is a point of view. But the skyline is more complex! 🙂
All the best, dear Natasha! Nice hearing you at WW!

    1. Thank you dear Suzana for sharing what you feel. Yes, it’s a complex word. It has many layers to it. We need to keep unfurling them and keeping it simple for ourselves.

      Much love. xoxo
