Women’s Day, Every Day: #WordlessWednesday #WednesdayWisdom

“I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality.”

Frida Kahlo

Women’s Day Every Day, yes!

Eustomas and Owls - Table Arrangement
*Eustomas and Owls*
These purple Eustoma’s (Lisianthus or Prairie gentian) are jaw dropping. Such surreal prettiness that they don’t even look like real flowers. I bought them for myself over the weekend. (Yes, i buy myself flowers often. Without any reason and I wrote about it on my Instagram handle – @natzcosmicrain too.) The two wise Owls: Well, they were sustainably created by the very talented @artbygee as a Wedding Anniversary gift to the DH from who else, but me. Oh! For the love of owls. The anniversary is on 12th March. We turn 15!

Eustoma - flowers and buds
In Greek ‘Eu’ stands for ‘good’, ‘stoma’ for ‘mouth’. So Eustoma translates to ‘good mouth’, which isn’t really that strange! Because every time you see this versatile Liasianthus with all its shape, hues and leaves, your jaw drops open in in wonder. The buds are in shades of cream, and when they bloom stealthily at night the colour transits to purple! It can give our good old rose a run for its money. Bought with tenderness and delivered with love by Bring my Flowers.

Frida, my Goddess.
I’m not a feminist. I firmly believe in gender equality and I support gender neutrality. Having said that I believe women are game changers and should be comfortable in their skins, without burning bras. What inspires me about Frida is her grit and courage to not let her childhood polio affliction, or a freak accident at 18 dampen her spirits, any less. On the contrary her love for art was revived, while recovering in hospital. Her self portraits still continue to take the world by storm.

Pastry box- living room
A dear friend who flies gave in to her passion for baking during the pandemic and this is Esha and her daughter, Ranaya’s creation of love, Fudge that Sugar! Such delicious gluten-free scones, a strawberry preserve and a pretty floral box to boot. More power to you girls, this women’s day, and every day.

Before Kavita turned 50 she gave up her job as an educator, to start a cosy little cafe, Brews and Bagels. This is her flaunting her womanhood and celebrating her overflowing love and gorgeousness, this Women’s day, and every day! Thank for making it special for my girls and I, and all your customers, K. <3

A little peek into her cafe. Can you see the Brews and Bagels?!

Covid-19 - Book
Paths are made by walking…
Had the good fortune of editing this detailed publication written and put together by a team of global experts. The print edition landed up on my door-step just before Women’s day. Women’s day, every day! 🙂

Covid Book- chapter
It’s not uncanny that when I started editing this report I came down with Covid, followed by my brother and his family’s fight with Covid. My Dada (brother) valiantly fought the battle, only to succumb to co-morbidities. This report is a valuable asset and will serve as ready reckoner to help us be better prepared, by averting such health and humanitarian disasters in the future.

Mental Health- Covid-19 book
Another chapter from the book. Mental health took a huge toll, during the pandemic. For artists and creators our creativity kept us sane and going, and sometimes not! When the anxieties crept in making art, journaling and walking in nature helped us hold ground. But for some even that wasn’t an option. (not part of the book)
Women’s day, every day. This book will be available on Amazon soon.

Women’s Day, Every Day

I am rising like a phoenix from the ashes, once again.

I’m slowly but surely emerging from the the sea, after a major surgery early last month, and my brother’s passing over in his physical form. Yes, he watches over me from the tree outside the window, the nodding flowers at my doorstep, the delicious meals we eat every day. He now is infinite, and in my heart. <3

*********

I am so excited to connect deeply with you, my dear friends in blogosphere. And read all your fascinating posts in the next few days. I have missed you, so much!

The last few months have taught me to throw around the confetti of kindness on myself first, followed by those around me. Life is too fragile to be lived with angst, anger, hard feelings and judgement.

As a woman when I love myself unconditionally with the flaws and frayed ends, I can be a lot kinder to others too. These days I tune in to the voice in my head.

Is it a gentle one or an unkind one?

I let the unkind one blow away like a cloud. And chose to tune in to the one which speaks with a calm, wise voice.

When your cup brims with love, it pours into others hearts. Click To Tweet

Hope you all are well and staying safe, sane, and scintillating!

Love, light, laughter and warmest hugs. <3 <3

  1. I’m glad you are doing better and we’re very sorry to hear about your loss. Women’s Day is a special day, but yes, it’s really every day. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  2. Happy 15th dear Natasha & Alok

I am happy to know you are healing & recovering well. Will connect over call…..

Those purples are a delight. Recently I had picked up a bunch of hot pink flowers for myself but did not know it’s name …… now I know, Eustoma

I had seen a movie on Frida by the same name starring Salma Hayek long time back and I do remember how ahead she was of time and what a fighter…… she loved life too much to waste it.

The owls are so cute, I had seen it recently on a blogger friend’s post (bough from same person) and now yours …. The floral carry bag is charming. I love creative and pretty packaging, it speaks about the thought that goes into making it special.

Get Well Soon Nat ….. love, warm hugs and loads of healing vibes

Beautiful flowers! Love that lovely purple shade, Natasha. Celebrating Women’s day every day is the right thing to do. I loved the way you spoke about sprinkling kindness around yourself and everywhere else. Celebrating humanity, aren’t we, by spreading kindness around us.

I like Frida K too, very much. I don’t know his work. I saw a movie about her life and I haven’t forgotten her since.

    Happy WW!

    1. Dear, dear Suzana,

Don’t know how but I just remembered the song Sussana by Art Company. Have you heard it? It was my favourite as a young teen.

  9. Natasha,

I’m glad you’re back in Blogosphere again. Things have been tough for you but it will get better, especially the physical issues. You’ll soon discover a renewed energy. That’s what happened with me when I had the same surgery in 2001. Your heart will continue ache over your brother’s passing but that in time grows less. Again, I know this kind of pain from personal experience. Saying prayers for you, my darlin’. Have a wonderful day. Stay safe and be well!

    1. I hear you dear Cathy. The first one month it felt downhill, but things are looking upward over the mountain now. 🙂

Yes, the ache never goes away, dulls maybe, but just honouring him in all the little things we do is what makes him omnipresent now. He watches over us with his mischievous, dazzling smile. And even as i type this. <3 🙂

Thank you for your love, support and calming words in the last few months, dearest Cathy. And not to forget all the reassuring emails. Means so very much.

You take care and stay your gorgeous self. And all the very best for A-Z. Excited to see your art.

      Love and bear hugs. <3

  10. The flowers are gorgeous. I’m sure it was very gratifying to see, and hold in your hands, the report you edited and know that it will help people. I am sorry about your brother. How awful. Love the Beatles poster in your friend’s shop 🙂 Freda was a very interesting artist and I do really like her work. I hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. I love the Beatles poster and their are a few others which I will share in the coming days. There is a rock and roll wall too. 🙂

Hope you are having a good start to a brand new week, Trent and spreading the smiles a million miles away.

      Be blessed, and keep shining.

  11. Beautiful flowers and thanks for telling us more about them, Natasha.
Congratulations on the wonderful and meaningful work you managed to complete despite the terrible time you’ve had and the devastating loss of your brother.
    Hugs, Nats.
I’ve started doing #WordlessWednesday since last week, although my posts won’t be wordless! 😉
