Another Gem in the Wall: #WordlessWednesday

The Butterfly Effect

Another gem IN the wall: #WordlessWednesday

3:12 P.M., 1 October, 2018, The Beatles Ashram, Rishikesh, India

Floored by the myriad wall art that adorned the crumbling, moss-covered walls of the Beatles Ashram, I went on a “capturing them” spree. These are a just few of those images that left me mesmerised and intrigued.

The calmness of the Ashram was punctuated by the gushing Ganges in the background. The old man on the wall looked back at me with his intense eyes; his grey beard flying away from his heart chakra, that adorned an intricate maṇḍala. On the other hand, the butterfly, literally seemed to emerge out of the wall, flapping its delicately speckled wings, and flying away into the expanse of unending greens.

Have you heard of the Butterfly effect? Here’s what it is all about: The butterfly effect* is a phenomenon which has evolved from the Chaos Theory. In metaphorical language, it means that a small change can give rise to a big tidal wave. A simple movement like that of a flapping of a wing by a butterfly gives rise to a tornado somewhere else.

Each one of us is like that butterfly of the Butterfly Effect. And each tiny move towards a more positive mindset, can send ripples of positivity through our organizations, our families and our communities. Share on X

The quote is borrowed from Shawn Achor, The Happiness Advantage.

Sending ripples of positive, happy vibes for those who are here today on my page.

  1. Love these wall art and the explanation behind the ‘Butterfly Effect’. This is such a revelation!
There is so much behind these splash of colours and strokes of the brush, isn’t it Natz?

  2. How stunning, that art, Natasha! I followed your link to the Beatles Ashram. I would definitely like to visit that and I’ve promptly added it to my next year’s travel list. Thank you so much for sharing these. I love wall art and am glad I live in a city that revels in it. I always wish these artists had more recognition.

  3. Walls seem to be common to our posts today. Sadly the wall art I saw was hardly pretty . In fact it was a poor representation of the beauty it was supposed to promote .
