The Road Less Travelled
the road less travelled
7 August, 2018
What does this picture tell you? A lone traveller on a deserted road? A path where the flora towers over mankind? Are we are mere inconspicuous beings?
For me, this photo not just brought back memories of my awe-inspiring walk on the lone road, at Balur, Chikmagalur, South India; but also conjured up a medley of words in my minds eye, by my two favourite poets, Rumi and Robert Frost.
“Beyond right doings and wrong doings there’s a field, I shall meet you?” “Or two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less travelled.”
I am also glad to be able to share these two evocative pieces, that have adorned my being, for many many moons.
"Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language and the phrase "each other" doesn't make sense anymore." -Rumi

Frost’s words have been on ,y mind like an impression. I read the poem as a school girl and still can’t it off my head 😉
Your picture goes so well with the poetry. The thing about your WW posts is that they have a part of your life. It’s not just a photo but a memory.
I love Rumi’s poetry! You’ve inspired me to leaf through my Rumi books and oracle deck. I think I may have the beginnings of a new idea to work on! Fingers crossed it doesn’t flitter away before I can catch it!
This has been my favorite poem along with If by Rudyard Kipling. Delightful words and a beautiful picture. Just linked up my post with WW.
I love most of Frost’s works and this poem is especially encouraging. I like to think that I took the road not taken. A lovely picture and a great reflection.
AH! What a coincidence it is!!! I used the title ‘The road not taken’ for a travel series I started penning down recently. I was inspired by the poem and named first part of the series that i posted as “The road not taken”.
Hey Keerthi, that is indeed synchronous. Will you please share the link?
Such a delightful post, Nats and so filled with wisdom.
I’ve always loved Frost’s poem and your picture and words do more than enough justice to it <3
I’ve always loved Frost’s poem and the quote of the road less travelled. Lovely picture!
Both the poems are a delight to read. Road like these makes me remember Robert Frost’s words too. Beautiful capture.
I came across both these quotes as a teen and they’ve been with me since. Thanks for bringing them up again for me today.
