Dear Arusha,

It’s your 21st today, and I wonder if you remember this butterfly, you found one fine afternoon, when the two of us were out on a lunch date. It was a precious moment frozen in time, and your spilled words will remain etched in my heart. Those are for me to treasure and lock in my memories, as my keep sake.

Two years later this image brings fresh perspectives into my horizon. The butterfly may have lived a simple, yet regal life, but not without challenges. And when it was time to leave, the perfect wing got clipped away; in all probability by some external forces. Yet, it left an indelible mark in our hearts. So much so that you kept her preserved in your little diary.

This picture isn’t perfect , nor was the moment when we spotted this beautiful being. It left us feeling sad for the loss of a beautiful life, yet infused us with so much hope. Such is life with its bitter-sweet moments.

Be like the butterfly. Serene, precious, beautiful; living each day like it was you last. And no matter what the road ahead may look like, keep floating and spreading your wings. The world really is your oyster to transform!

Much love and all my blessings always. <3

  1. I’m so sorry for being offline most of last week, hence wishing late —A very happy belated birthday to dear Arusha! I loved reading your beautiful message to her and I hope she will always appreciate these moments that you both have spent together, gathering nuggets of wisdom from life, whilst sailing through the ups and downs of life! I wish her loads of happiness on her special day and in the days to come and lots of positive vibes and hugs are being sent her way.

Thanks a lot for hosting this linkup on my behalf, dear Natasha. Stay blessed, you both!

  2. I know I sang happy birthday yesterday, but I don’t see my comment.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

    1. Dear Sandee,

No worries at all. It’s the thought that counts. 🙂

Thank you for your wishes and also for joining our blog hop.

      Love and cheer!

    1. Thanks so very much Cory, from Arusha and I.
Yes, June is such a busy month. Next year I’m definitely getting away with the family to reclaim myself.

  3. Happy 21st to Arusha- an important milestone birthday. Butterflies have so many lessons to teach us, and there will be many lessons to come as Arusha continues to mature and grow.

    1. Oh! I couldn’t agree more, Alana. Butterflies teach us not one, but multiple precious lessons. They are one of my favourite beings too.

Your post just reminded me of the poem Arusha and I wrote when she was 6. It was on butterflies. Maybe I should dig it out.

Thank you for your warm wishes. 🙂

  4. It’s a momentous occasion when a child turns 21. She feels she has become an adult but you know she is still your baby. What a wonderful message you are giving your little girl – something that will guide her always knowing that you are there behind her….Happy birthday to the both of you : you as a 21 year old mummy and Arusha as a 21 year old grown up.

    1. Thank you so very much Sunita. Yes, always got her back, while I know that she got to power through this life on her own, learn to look her fears in the eye, and experience the bitter-sweet moments with as much aplomb and joy and she can.

Your wishes are so special and they mean much. <3

  5. Natasha,

The years disappear quickly, don’t they? What lovely sentiments you shared and the memories…oh, so sweet! Thanks for sharing on WW and for the return visit last week. Have a fototastic week, dearie!

    1. Yes, the years do pass by in a jiffy, Cathy.
Just the other day she was this little seven-year-old, scuttling around at the Bohol Bee Farm, checking out the livestock, and the flora. And then gathering sea shells and looking besotted by the myriad star fish, in the Philippines. (those memories have been my regular visitors off late)

      🙂

Absolutely lovely to see you here. Have missed you on my blog.

      1. Natasha,

I’m sorry I haven’t been by too much in recent months. It’s a struggle to do what’s needed in Blogosphere and now I’m fixing to take a semi-hiatus in blogging but I really do need the downtime. I shall try to be a better bloggy friend once I get back into the groove, though. Happy summertime to you, my dear! 😉

        1. Dear Cathy,

Please don’t even mention that. You’ve been a wonderful blogging buddy indeed.

It’s great that you are taking some time off to recharge and rejuvenate. Everyone needs to do that once in a while.

I’ll keep hopping across to Curiousasacathy meanwhile.

Thank you. We can’t wait to bid the summers adieu.
It’s been sweltering and now we await the rains with bated breath.
But ain’t complaining. Summers come with my favourite fruit, some delicious coolers and an opportunity to start the day earlier than usual.

See you around soon. God bless!

  6. Wishing a very happy 21st to the stunning Arusha! This post made me shed happy tears. Daughters sure are a blessing and you have celebrated her so well 🙂

Lots of love to you both! <3

Linked up for the second time this week. Thank you for hosting this for us 🙂

    1. Lusine, will you believe this if I told you that I just was thinking about you and wondering what happened to your wonderful link-ups. 🙂

Thank you so much for swinging by and this lovely message.

      God bless.

    1. Thank you Patrick. We always appreciate your posts and you for being the first person to link-up with us week, after week.

Have a very blessed week yourself!
