Sparrows add cheer to my day. I always wished they would visit our home often, but they and rarely visited and kept eluding us for many years. Good news: They now are regulars, for about 4-5 months! When a friend gifted me a sparrow feeder last year, I was thrilled. I even installed a sparrow box for them to nest. We have quite a few feathered friends visit our balcony. These include house sparrows, bulbuls, rufous treepies, crows and common mynas (starlings). Oh! And how could I forget the omnipresent pigeons?! Starlings (mynas) have a special place in my heart. They have been visiting our home for the past 16 years. Their chatty energy, walk like an Egyptian strides and strong familial bonds; captivate me unfailingly. They love grapes. In summer, the bird bath transforms to their “cool down tub”….
