Leopard, the Beauty with the Spots: #WordlessWednesday
“A world without leopards, well, who would want to live in it?”
Diana Veerland
Leopard, the Beauty with the Spots
Did you know what the spots on a leopard are called?
Rosettes, because these distinctive black spots resemble roses.
If you have read my last post, Adventures in the Wild, you’ll know I just returned for a 12 day jaunt in the forests of Central India. I was there to learn more about wildlife, as part of a curriculum organised by my company, Pugdundee Safaris. And also to quench my thirst for the wild, alleviate my soul, and soak in the beauty of the wilderness.
THE BACKSTORY:
The morning I left Satpura, the participants of my course stumbled upon this regal cat, on a jeep safari, in the buffer zone. And as luck would have it, they were studying the Mammals module.
Did you notice how this beauty with the spots, fixated his gaze at them? Have you ever spotted a leopard in the wild? Did it scare you or you just sat transfixed in wonder?
I for one, love watching wildlife in their natural habitat.

What a beautiful animal! And how wonderful to see him in his natural habitat. 🙂 We only have them in zoos, here.
Yes, one helluva a beauty indeed. Thanks dear Deb.
Oh, the spots are lovely. You zoomed enough for us to notice.
Yes all thanks to one of my Co-participants at the training program, Rajeev who took these shots.
Thanks Ramya.
I have seen leopards, but only in zoos. We don’t have them where they live and I’ve never been off the North American continent. So majestic. Maybe one day.
Yes they are gorgeous and I’m sure you’d love to see them in the wild someday Alana.
Welcome back to the #WW linkup party, dear co-host! You were missed, my friend!! So very happy that you had such an amazing time in the wild. Just the thing one needs to get back to the grind, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to take on the world! 🙂
That’s a beautiful shot, Natasha and I know it must have been quite tricky to get that close-up frame as well! Will check out your Musings post too, Natasha! Thank you for that beautiful word—rosette ….sounds so lovely! Never knew about that. Looking forward to more pictures and stories from you over the coming days.
Wishing you have a blessed week ahead.
Much love and hugs

Totally was Veronica. Thank you for leaving your imprints.
What a sighting! Pity it didn’t wait for you.
I know. But I sort of relived it through these pictures and the stories my friends told me.
Oh my, the leopard looks majestic and so beautiful. Excellent shots.
Totally was. Thanks dear Raj.
Something new for me to learn, the spots on leopard! Thanks for sharing this, Natasha.
Joining in this week for Wordless Wednesday. Can you do a link up for me?
I will suggest you remove the login option. For this very reason, I could not link to my previous post.
Dear Arvind,
Will work on the login option.
Thanks for your link up.
So beautiful. Thanks for the great info. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thanks Patrick!
