After a break…
I trained this evening amidst an aching body, cold and cough.
The message I share below, felt so relevant.
My body said, “Skip the class.”
My soul said, “Go, girl!”
And my trainer said, “Show up! Do what you can.”
Glad I did, as my soul felt happier post class.
Mihika, our coach/trainer/Mamma hen, posted this on our whataspp group, right after our class.
Mihika is 53 and a power packed punch of motivation and energy.
And she writes well, to boot!

After a break – by Mihika Wahi
Ok girls! One thing that I’ve noticed over the years is that most people don’t stop working out because they lose interest. They stop because life happens.
A parent falls ill. Guests come over. Children have exams. Work gets hectic. You travel. Vacations etc. And honestly, these are all valid reasons. Life will always demand your time.
The problem isn’t taking a break.
The problem is convincing yourself that because you’ve missed a few sessions, you’ve somehow failed and now you need to wait for the perfect Monday or the right time to start again.
That perfect time never comes. Believe me it doesn’t come.
If you’ve been training for a few weeks or a few months, you’ve already experienced how good strength training makes you feel. You sleep better. You feel stronger. Your mood improves. Your body starts responding. Don’t let a temporary break make you forget that feeling.
Remember, you don’t have to come back at 100%.
Come back at 50%.
Come back after two weeks or even two months.
Your first session back may feel difficult, and that’s okay. Your body remembers far more than you think. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll start feeling like yourself again.
The only mistake is staying away because you feel guilty.
Don’t let guilt keep you away from something that makes you healthier, stronger, and happier.
When life settles down, don’t overthink it. Just log in. Switch on your camera. Pick up your dumbbells.
You don’t need motivation. You just need to show up once.
Because one session becomes two. Two become a week. A week becomes a habit. And before you know it, you’re back.
I’ll always be here, no judgment, no questions asked. Just come back. Your body, your mind, and your future self will thank you for it.

Full disclosure. I’ve been told I’m not one of the girls, but thought I’d comment just the same.
As you point out, many things can happen to interrupt our training or even motivate us to begin training. In my case, triple heart bypass surgery sidelined me for a bit. Now back to the workout schedule and I feel terrific, physically as well as mentally.
Life. Is. Good. Even if we have to take it only one step at a time.
All the best!

Mihika is an inspiration and working out with her is a test of one’s own strength and stamina. She’s a 100% correct in urging everyone to be regular and consistent and not be shy to rejoin after a break. No one is judging anyone. We all try to lift each other up.
Fabulous blog Natasha!
Thanks for visiting, Charu and sharing your thoughts here.
After all we are women who lift.
Each other as well.✨
You’re right about this. I work out six days every week. Every week and I look forward to it.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Sweet Natasha. Love and hugs. ♥

Gosh! So lovely to hear the other side of you, my dearmost Sandee. No wonder you are fit and raring to go and keep growing so beautifully.
Would love to know what form of work outs do you choose.
My favourites are strength training and yoga.
I used to cycle and lot earlier, hopefully will make time for it someday too.
Thanks for always rooting for me.
