Scarlette ‘O Hara

I was mesmerised by the stunning beauty of this flower that I rechristened Scarlette ‘O Hara, as I have no clue whatsoever of its real name. I spotted this bundle of gorgeousness at Balur Estate, the coffee plantation in Chikmaglur, South India. If any of you know this beauty’s real name do let me know. Would love to hear from you.

  1. Loved the name you had given to this pretty showy pink flower, which is used in decorative arrangements and cooked with fish. This is Etlingera elatior also known as torch ginger, ginger flower, red ginger lily, torch lily, wild ginger, Philippine waxflower, Indonesian tall ginger, are native to Indonesia.

    1. Woooahh I’m so happy to learn something new, and that too about a mesmerising beauty I got lucky enough to see in it’s full bloom.
And it is cooked with fish too? Wow, the bloom or the leaf/stem; would love to know.
Thank you Pragun for this valuable piece of information.
