The Unannounced Guest: #WriteTribeProblogger #WriteBravely #FridayFictioneers

“We found him on the porch. It’s broken a wing,” said the DH, almost thrusting a Mynah on my face. The nine-year-old piped in, “Mamma, isn’t he handsome as hell? Can we keep him, pleaseeeee.” “I’d love to darling, but you know Gran is Orinthophobic, don’t you!” “Orintho…what?” “She has a fear of birds.” “But Mamma, he can stay upstairs in my room” “First things first my girl; let’s help restore this little guy,” said the DH. “Oh so you…

Terminal? : #WriteBravely #WriteTribeProBlogger #MondayMusings

“She has a terminal illness which is in the last stages.” The earth shattering news was broken to us with much aplomb by our family doctor. At that very moment I felt as though shards of glasses had pierced through my tough exterior, bruising me beyond repair. I badly wanted to rewind back to the days when she was a healthy, hale and hearty woman of steel; ready to take on the world with her enchanting smile and spirited attitude….

A Night of Nostalgic Nebula: #WriteTribeProblogger #WriteBravely #FridayFictioneers

Saturday, 5:46 A.M.: I haven’t slept a wink. The receding moon is gaping at me blankly. Well, it was a decadent night of drinking and dancing, on the River Mandovi.     A night that also brought back memories from the yesteryears: of Rahul and I. When we had chatted on the same deck; till the wee hours of the morning, trying to drown our attraction in pints of beer. But, with no success. Last night Rahul arrived with…

Fourth time in a row!!   “I have struggled with the same issue for the last six years,” she said to me with much angst in her voice. “Just when I think everything is going well and life’s looking up for me, I’m given the same set of challenges. Challenges that I thought I had managed to overcome once and for all. What do you think I’m doing wrong, Natz?” Rita looked not just distressed and overwhelmed, but it seemed…

Friends with Benefits?: #FridayFotoFiction

Friends with Benefits?: #FridayFotoFiction

We’d known each other since high school. Friends with benefits they called us. But that was far from the truth. We stuck to each other in good times and bad times alike. When Richard lost his mother, I spent endless days and nights by his side, reassuring him everything would be all right. He knew he could count on me.

Loveless: #FridayFictioneers

Loveless: #FridayFictioneers

It’s yet another dark, dreary morning. I wonder why the nights aren’t endless. Then the sinister mornings wouldn’t return. These gloomy mornings remind me of my vulnerabilities, and give me no choice but to face this loveless world squarely; everyday.

The Rafting Adventure: #WanderlustWednesday

The Rafting Adventure: #WanderlustWednesday

This is a long overdue about my exhilarating rafting adventure in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. Rishikesh, some of you would know has earned its name as the “Yoga Capital of the World”. Teeming with ashrams that offer Yoga and meditation this bustling little township, nestled in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas, has been a haven for spiritual seekers. This much before the Beatles rocked at the ashram of Mahesh Yogi in the late 60s. The holy river Ganges flows through…

The Jungle Ride : #FridayFictioneers

The Jungle Ride : #FridayFictioneers

The sun was dipping into the horizon, leaving behind streaks of burnt orange as the grey, candy flossed clouds tried hard to camouflage them. Al and I had decided to go for a quick drive to the Aravalli hills, that lazily lay sprawled around our urban jungle. We were hoping to spot some peacocks, jackals, or nilgais, as they headed into the hilly jungles, after a day’s feasting. Our SUV rumbled along the hilly terrain. Al suddenly braked hard,…

Life’s Looking Lustrous: #WanderlustWednesday

The year is whizzing by like there is no tomorrow and we are already sitting pretty on the ninth month of the year. That was one quick journey I must say. But then it happens all the time, right? And yes, so far so good. Life is looking lustrous for me at this point of time. Like it has never been before. Fingers and toes crossed. Though I know a lot of people are dealing with a few personal battles….

Life is a Cycle #MondayMusings

My weekends are getting busier and more interesting. On Sundays I go for a long ride with my Life is a Cycle buddies. Ours is a band of crazy and avid cyclists who not just cycle for the thrill of cycling, but to engage in silly banter, gorge on the various lip-smacking street food and sip on the milky roadside chai that awakens ones spirits, all while engaging in this fun sport and fitness regime.
